Become an Instructor

The IPAI seeks seasoned industry professionals with a passion for sharing their knowledge and experience to join our instructor corps.

Ideal candidates will do more than read words from a book or PowerPoint. We seek instructors who are dynamic and ready to engage with students, bring a level of excitement and levity to the classroom, and are practiced professionals with a passion for property assessment. Industry practical knowledge and real-world experience are critical to making course content relevant to students.

Past and current instructors have included:

  • Chief County Assessment Officers
  • Township Assessors
  • County and Township Deputy Assessors
  • Commercial appraisers
  • GIS professionals
  • Attorneys with practice experience in property tax
  • University professors
  • IL Department of Revenue professionals
  • Corporate trainers

During our annual conference season, an instructor may teach one or several courses. The number of courses taught depends the instructor’s knowledge and availability, as well as the overall IPAI course schedule for that year. All instructors are contracted and are compensated with a flat fee for services.
