Mark is the retired Supervisor of Assessments for Hamilton County. Before retiring in 2019, Mark spent 30-plus years in the assessment office. He is recognized as a leader within Illinois among county assessment officials, with a special expertise in the valuation of oil, gas, coal, and farmland.

Mark is past chairman of the County Assessment Officials Association (CAOA) Oil & Gas Committee, past chairman of CAOA Area V, past chairman of the Property Tax Advisory Committee Farmland Group, a course author for the Illinois Property Assessment Institute, and a mentor to many assessors across the state. He has been involved in crafting key legislation for the General Assembly involving the valuation of oil and gas.

Mark is a graduate of the University of Illinois and still works on the farm that has been in his family for generations. In 2017, he was the recipient of the Marshall Theroux Memorial Award.
