Pre-Course Networking Session

  • Friday, February 12, 3:00 - 4:00 pm
  • All students taking one or more of the Winter Virtual Qualifying Series courses are required to attend this pre-course networking session. This will be a one-hour session where you will get to know your classmates and learn how to use all the tools in Zoom.

Introduction to Assessment in Illinois

Important Notes:

  • Register through the Student Portal by clicking the Account Login button above
  • Last day to register or drop this course without penalty is one week before the start of the course
  • All Virtual Qualifying students must take their exams online - Learn More
  • You can take a mix of in-person and online qualifying coures
  • You must attend 100% of the online sessions. No makeups are allowed.

 

Course Expectations:

The class includes online Zoom sessions where the whole class and instructor meet together. You are expected to attend 100% of these sessions.

You also will have offline work inbetween Zoom sessions. Together, with the online sessions above, this work will equal approximately the 15 hours the in-person version meets for. Offline work includes:

  • Watching videos

  • Reading the chapters

  • Completing some chapter exercises

  • You are expected to complete these when they are assigned so you are fully prepared for the Zoom sessions

 

Technology Requirements:

An internet connection – broadband wired or wireless (3G or 4G/LTE). Minimum bandwidth is 600kbps (upload/download) and recommended is 1.5 Mbps (upload/download). 

  • Check your Internet bandwidth using Speedtest.  

A microphone – built-in to your computer or USB plug-in or wireless Bluetooth.  

  • A USB headset with microphone and earphones is highly recommended 

A webcam - one which is built-in to your computer or one that connects to your computer via USB. 

Browser - current version of Google Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari on a computer running Windows 7, 8, or 10 or Mac OS 10.11+ (El Capitan). 

Please note: If accessing the course using a mobile device, it must be a large-screen device such as an iPhone 6+ or iPad.
