This presentation will take a deep dive into the valuation of two difficult property types: barndominiums and hotels. A choose your own adventure model will give participants an opportunity to take a deep dive into either of these property types during this plenary session.
The barndominium has gained in popularity since the early 2000’s. Jurisdictions typically have only a few of these properties with limited number of sales. Hotels are difficult as they operate as three components real estate, intangibles, and furniture, fixtures, and equipment. The components are tightly interwoven and must be separated for ad valorem.
