Vicki Sheets

Chairwoman

Vicki graduated Summa cum laude from Millikin University with a BS in Management & Organizational leadership and from Richland CC with Highest Honors with an Associate of Arts degree. For 23 and a half years, Vicki worked at Macon Resources, a non-profit organization in Decatur. From 2009 – 2014 she was the Fiscal Officer and FOIA Officers for the Illinois Secretary of State.

Her office is responsible for assessing nearly 27,000 commercial and residential properties located within the boundaries of Decatur Township. Plagued with issues for the past 2 decades, the office received a “THUMBS UP” from the Decatur Herald & Review for the turnaround in the office since Vicki took over. The office now has a social media presence, a data-driven website, and offers outreach programs and workshops. In 2014, Decatur Township became the first assessment office in downstate Illinois to utilize electronic submission of assessment books. Vicki has assembled a knowledgeable, professional staff and implemented systems and procedures that serve the taxpayers well. Vicki strongly believes that professional development and continuing education is vital for every member of her team, allowing them to stay current on trends and changes in the assessment profession.

Outside of work, she raises and shows Golden Retrievers and is licensed to judge dog obedience trials in 2 registries. Three times Vicki has been selected to judge the UKC Premier national obedience trial.

She has one son, Tom (& his wife Amber), and one grandson, Devyn.
