Through practical demonstrations and real-world examples, attendees will explore chart components, chart creation workflows, common chart types, customization techniques, and trendlines for identifying patterns and trends. Whether you're creating reports or supporting valuation decisions, this session will help you present data with greater clarity and confidence.

Building Relationships Between Public Offices
Tuesday, October 6 | $50 | 2 CE Hours

Join Julie Russell (Fulton County Supervisor of Assessments and Zoning Administrator) and Mark Armstrong (Kane County Supervisor of Assessments and former chairman of the St. Charles Plan Commission) for this informative session. The Illinois Property Tax Code requires interaction between township and county assessment offices, county clerks, and county treasurers.  But assessors can further benefit by building relationships with other government offices.  Zoning and permitting offices, both at the municipal and county level, maintain a wealth of information that can make our jobs easier; and even if a jurisdiction lacks zoning, information about stormwater management, availability of highway curb cuts, and even the siting of wells for drinking water can be useful.

Cases and Examples of Why Empathy Matters
Tuesday, October 27 | FREE

Through real-world cases and practical examples, Erin Kljaich, Plainfield Township Assessor, and Mary Tamez, Crete Township Assessor, shows how empathy improves assessment accuracy and builds taxpayer trust. Participants explore moments where listening uncovered critical facts, prevented errors, and supported lawful corrections. The discussion connects empathy to compliance, communication, and defensible values—demonstrating why understanding context leads to better outcomes overall.
