Patrick J. Hynes, Lyons Township Assessor, was recently awarded the 2025 Outstanding Achievement in Property Assessment Award in recognition of his long career in property assessment, contributions to the industry, and dedication to the people of his community. Hynes received the award at the Illinois Property Assessment Institute’s 67th Annual State Conference held in Normal, Illinois.
Nominees for the annual Outstanding Achievement in Property Assessment Award are submitted from around Illinois. The winner is determined by the Board of Directors of the Illinois Property Assessment Institute. Hynes was nominated for the award by colleagues throughout Chicagoland.
Hynes has worked in property assessment for 27 years and has served as Lyons Township Assessor since 2021. He holds the Certified Illinois Assessing Officer designation from the Illinois Property Assessment Institute. He serves on the Cook County Assessors Association Board and is a firefighter/EMT with the Western Springs Fire Department.
“Pat has exemplified the principles of reform, accuracy, and fairness that are vital to fostering public trust and improving the property tax system. Throughout his career, he has distinguished himself as a leader, collaborator, and advocate for excellence,” said Cook County Board of Review Commissioner George Cardenas. “Pat has consistently demonstrated exceptional knowledge of property assessments. Through his strong relationships with neighboring communities, he has fostered collaboration and the sharing of best practices. Both local officials and residents alike know they can rely on him to act with integrity and prioritize the best interests of the community,” noted Villag of Lyons Mayor Chris Getty.
