Attend the Legal Symposium

August 14, 2024

With the Paris Summer Olympics behind us, it's time to set our sights on the upcoming season. What are you looking forward to this fall? If you're seeking a blend of professional development and networking, might I suggest the perfect one-two punch: 7.5 CE hours for CIAO holders and 7 hours of attorney CLE followed by a networking event hosted by the WPTA.

2024 marks the second annual IPAI Legal Symposium on Property Assessment, an event that is sure to become a highlight in my educational routine—truly a gold-medal experience. This symposium earns a perfect score for its ability to unite the assessment and legal sectors to tackle property taxation challenges, enhance workplace productivity, and cultivate essential networking opportunities.

Following the successful debut in 2023, which drew nearly 150 property tax experts, the 2024 edition is set to surpass its predecessor with an array of stellar presentations. The kick-off session will spotlight Chris De Santis, and his presentation, "Why I Find You Irritating: Navigating Generational Friction at Work." His captivating talk aims to provide strategies for navigating generational differences, thereby enhancing interactions with colleagues, constituents, and other professionals.

A midday session features the trio of Michael Bullock, Kristina Mucinskas, and Sasha Jonic who will delve into the workings of the Property Tax Appeal Board, offering a glimpse into the agency’s backstory and potential upcoming transformations.

Choosing between the diverse breakout sessions may prove challenging, with topics ranging from Certificates of Error and Top Property Tax Decisions to Complex Sale and Valuation Issues—including data centers, Employment Law, and more. For a full list of sessions, view our Legal Symposium Breakout Sessions webpage.

Wrapping up the day, Kathy Enstrom and Mike Raschella, last year’s closing speakers, will return for an encore presenting, "Sovereign Citizens: A Deeper Dive." In this presentation they will delve deeper into the subculture of tax deniers.

The IPAI Legal Symposium is a powerhouse of continuing education, and I'm eager to connect with all the attendees. After a day packed with learning, unwind at the Women’s Property Tax Association (WPTA) after-hours event—an ideal setting to relax, network, and reflect on the day's programming.
