June Executive Director's Note

June 20, 2019

Dear Students,

As I sit at my desk typing this note, it is hard to believe one year has passed since I took the helm of the Illinois Property Assessment Institute. The phrase “time flies when you are having fun” certainly comes to mind as I ponder the last twelve months we have spent together. In my first note to you, I stated:

“From the most prosperous suburb in DuPage County, to a small town in Adams County, to coal country in Franklin County, the important work you do touches the lives of every Illinois citizen. The IPAI wants to do all we can to provide you with the knowledge, background, and experience to be the best assessors in the nation. As we move forward into our next exciting chapter, we are committed to updating and expanding course offerings to ensure we continue to be the premier assessor education organization in our state."

Those words are just as true today as they were a year ago. In the past year, we have made great strides in how we provide education and training to our assessment professionals. We have much to celebrate including improving the conference experience, raising our level of customer service, launching a new website, rolling out new courses, building relationships around the state, expanding our footprint, and so much more. Stay tuned because I believe the IPAI is entering a renewed era and the accomplishments of the last twelve months are just the beginning!

It continues to be an honor and a privilege to be at the helm of the Illinois Property Assessment Institute. If you ever have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to partner with you.

Thank you,

Josh W. Barnett
Executive Director
