Not receiving our e-mails?

July 22, 2019

We have heard that some of our students are not receiving our monthly e-newsletter or e-mails with conference/workshop details. The IPAI uses Mailchimp for our external e-mail communication. Mailchimp is an email service provider that's been around since 2001. They have millions of customers from all over the world—small business, Fortune 500s, nonprofits, schools, musicians, etc.—who use Mailchimp to send more than 20 billion emails every month.

Typically, when subscribers don't see our e-mail campaign (like our monthly newsletter) in their inboxes, it's because of spam filters. If you have looked in your spam or junk folders and still don't see our e-mail campaign, there are a few other things to investigate:

  • Add our “From” email address (registrar@ipaieducation.org) to your contact list or address book.
  • If our “From” email address (registrar@ipaieducation.org) is in your address book check your spam filter settings to be sure that IPAI content and/or e-mail address address isn't blocked.
  • Are your using a webmail provider such as AOL, Yahoo, or Hotmail? These providers throttle delivery, which can sometimes result in e-mails taking about 24 hours to be delivered to a specific email account.
  • Could there be an internal firewall? Some domains don't like seeing emails going from a third party. For instance, when we send our e-newsletter from registrar@ipaieducation.org to firstname.lastname@domain.com, in the middle of that process, your email goes through a Mailchimp server. Sometimes, particularly with corporate, university, and large organization e-mail filters, these e-mails look suspicious and are blocked. Review the whitelisting information with your IT team if this may be the case.
  • If none of the above seem to get you our e-mails, you may need to request to your IT department to add our IP addresses to your organization’s whitelist. Typically, subscribers should ask their server administrator or IT department to handle whitelisting Mailchimp's servers.
