March 31, 2021

Jerald “Jerry” Rudman, the Commercial Deputy Assessor for York Township (DuPage County), was recently awarded the 2021 Marshall Theroux Memorial Award in recognition of his long career in property assessment, contributions to the industry, and dedication to community service. Rudman received the award at the Illinois Property Assessment Institute’s 63rd Annual Conference held at the Marriott Hotel in Normal, Illinois. The Theroux Award is the highest honor bestowed in the Illinois property assessment industry.

Nominees for the annual Marshall Theroux Memorial Award are submitted from around Illinois. The winner is determined by the Board of Directors of the Illinois Property Assessment Institute. Rudman was nominated for the award by a dozen colleagues from throughout the state.

Ruman has over three decades of experience in property assessment. He holds the CIAO-Master designation from the Illinois Property Assessment Institute (the highest designation available to someone in the Illinois property assessment industry). He also serves as an instructor for the Institute. In addition to serving as Commercial Deputy Assessor for York Township, Rudman is an alternate member of the Kane County Board of Review.

“Jerry is a master of all he does. He is a well-respected and admired assessor, teacher, colleague, and mentor. People from both inside and outside Illinois seek out his advice and counsel,” said Tim Jorczak, Senior Commercial Appraiser for City of Bloomington Township (McLean County). Chesney Leafblad, Chief Deputy Assessor in Warren Township (Lake County) noted, “Jerry is the epitome of a public servant. He does not seek recognition. His goal is the betterment of our profession and those around him.”
