Dear Students,
Seeking to provide more clarity to our CIAO Candidates, in January the IPAI updated our process for an individual to obtain their Certified Illinois Assessing Officer (CIAO) designation. For those working to obtain your designation (CIAO Candidates), please pay close attention to the information below. Those of you already in procession of your CIAO, please be mindful of this new process as others in your office seek a CIAO designation.
The CIAO process now uses four easy to follow steps. Each is detailed in the “CIAO Designation” menu on our website.
Step 4, “Request your CIAO Certificate,” is a critical, new step that was added to close the loop after all required courses are completed. Once a CIAO Candidate has successfully completed all courses, they must request their CIAO Certificate. A CIAO designation is not valid nor reported to the IL Department of Revenue until the certificate request has been received. This is true for an individual about to begin the process as well as current CIAO Candidates.
