Cynthia is the Murphysboro Township Assessor. She began in the property assessment industry working part-time in the Murphysboro Township office when her husband, Ron, was the elected assessor. She then became Deputy Assessor and then was elected township assessor when her husband retired.
Outside of her elected duties, Cynthia likes volunteering in her community. She is a breast cancer survivor and actively involved with Relay for Life Jackson County-Murphysboro and has participated in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day – a 60-mile walk done over a three-day period to raise money for and awareness of breast cancer. Cynthia is also past chairwoman of the Southern Illinois Workforce Development Board and was the first woman to serve in that capacity.
In her free time, Cynthia enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, working in her yard (she grows beautiful flowers), swimming and doing crafts.
