For thirty years, Ali ElSaffar has worked as an attorney with a focus on real estate law, while also managing family-owned properties in Oak Park. His background in real estate led to a successful run for Oak Park Township Assessor in 2001, and Ali has been the assessor ever since. He also served as a contract assessor for Berwyn Township from 2002 to 2004. In 2008 Ali was elected President of the Cook County Township Assessors Association and has held that position for fifteen years. In his role as association president he has focused on educating township assessment officials in Cook County, advocating for township government, and supporting reforms of Illinois property tax laws.
Ali is also known for hosting hilarious holiday parties for the assessors association, and going everywhere with Shakira, his adorable five-pound dog.
