In 1983 Jeff started working in the assessment field as part time summer help at the Avon Township Assessors Office, Lake County. He inspected properties, measuring homes and taking pictures with a Polaroid Instamatic camara. In 1985 he became a fulltime employee. He achieved his CIAO certification in 1986.

In 1990 Jeff “jumped the fence” to work for a real estate tax consulting firm. There he worked nationally on commercial and industrial properties reviewing assessments, filing appeals, and reviewing tax bills. Then in 1997 Jeff again “jumped the fence” to become the Commercial Deputy Assessor for Warren Township in Lake County. Some of the properties he appraised were Gurnee Mills and Great America.

In 2005 he became Assessor for Lake Villa Township, Lake County. He oversaw the implementation of a CAMA system, the inspection and re-measuring of the entire Township, and the modernization of the office. Jeff has been very involved in the Lake County Township Assessors Association holding leadership positions as CAMA chairperson, Vice President and President of the association, a position he currently holds.
