From the house where you grew up, to the local grocery store, to your favorite bakery, those buildings and the land they are on have a value. In Illinois, that value is assigned (or assessed) by a township or county assessor. In order to hold the position of assessor, Illinois law requires that individuals hold certain credentials – that’s where we come in!
The Illinois Property Assessment Institute certifies and provides continuing education to property assessors across our great state. Many staff people who work for the local assessor also carry our credentials, as do a lot of attorneys, and state government officials.
Our staff work closely with subject matter experts from across Illinois to develop and provide training and professional development opportunities to the entire property assessment industry in our state.
