From the house you grew up in, to the local grocery store, to your favorite bakery, the land and buildings that sit on that land have a value. In Illinois, that value is assigned (or assessed) by a township or county assessor. In order to hold the position of assessor, Illinois law requires that individual hold certain credentials – that’s where we come in!
Illinois Property Assessment Institute certifies and provides continuing education to property assessors across our great state. Many staff people who work for the local assessor also carry our credentials, as do a lot of attorneys, and state government officials.
Our staff work closely with subject matter experts from across Illinois to develop and provide training and professional development opportunities to the entire property assessment industry in our state. Learn a little bit more in our fast facts below.
