Course Descriptions

Commercial Complaints at the Local Level is the much-anticipated counterpart to our residential course. This new class will discuss how to prepare for and participate in a commercial / industrial property Board of Review hearing, with the ultimate goal of determining the fair market value of the subject property.

Geared towards small and medium size jurisdictions that may not have a commercial expert on staff, this course will cover commercial complaints from both the assessor and BOR member perspectives. Topics to be explored include:

• Communicating with commercial property owners about their assessments.
• Interacting with attorneys and intervenors on commercial complaints.
• Analyzing complainant evidence, including appraisals.
• Preparing assessor evidence.
• Participating in the Board of Review hearing.
