Campbell Achieves CIAO-M Advanced Designation

May 30, 2024

Jennifer Campbell, Chief County Assessment Officer for Piatt County, has recently earned the Certified Illinois Assessing Officer-Master (CIAO-M) advanced designation from the Illinois Property Assessment Institute. Campbell previously earned the CIAO designation from the Institute.

Campbell began working with property assessments in 2012 as a deputy clerk for the Macon County Supervisor of Assessments, and deputy assessor for Hickory Point Township concurrently. In 2013 Campbell earned her CIAO. In 2013 she was offered the appraiser analyst position, and later a chief deputy position with the Champaign County Supervisor of Assessments. Campbell left Champaign County to take the CCAO position for Logan County in 2018. In 2021 she left Logan County and became the CCAO for Piatt County to be closer to home. Campbell says that working in so many jurisdictions has given her a unique experience and has met many wonderful people along the way.

To obtain the Illinois Property Assessment Institute’s CIAO-M designation, an individual must first hold the CIAO designation, then take at least 180 hours of continuing education, serve at least eight years in the assessment field, and pass an exam. Less than 1% of the CIAOs hold the advanced CIAO-M designation.

Campbell is currently serving as the Vice President of the IL Chapter of the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO). She is also pursuing the Assessment Administration Specialist (AAS) designation from the IAAO. Campbell resides in Decatur with her husband where they recently became empty nesters after their only child, her stepdaughter Lilli, finished high school and flew the coop. She enjoys cooking, hiking, gardening, and traveling when she gets the chance. Campbell also volunteers as a barista at her church coffee shop and enjoys a good latte!
