Under general supervision, performs professional assessment work in connection with examining, analyzing and evaluating real property for property assessment purposes.
Major Duties, Responsibilities:
Collects Field Data; prepares drawings; transfer information into various databases for valuation and record maintenance. Works with a variety of software tools to analyze and value vacant and improved property. Analyze information to determine if value and legal classifications are accurate and make adjustments as necessary.
Analyze sales and economic factors, estimate property value and review appeals on assessments from property owners or there agents.
Research, prepare responses attend hearings for appeals before the Board of Review, Property Tax Appeal Board.
Provide assistance to taxpayers by researching taxpayer questions and concerns as related to property assessment, exemptions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work in hazardous conditions such as active construction sites and work in a variety of weather conditions.
Meet and deal effectively with the public, establish and maintain professional working relationships with co-workers, government, and private agencies.
Extract and interpret information from a variety of sources such as blueprints, sketches, legal descriptions, charts, tables, and economic trends in order to determine property assessments.
Perform simple mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, as well as computing percentages and measurements.
Compile and record data related to assessment of real property including charts, tables, detailed property descriptions, measurements, and classification of improvements. The majority of these tasks are completed utilizing computer software programs.
Maintain professional certification and all associated continuing education.
Three years experience working in general office, assessment office, appraisal, construction or related field.
